Overview:

Temperament may be the dividing line between children who sleep well and those who don’t. This recorded webinar will look at how temperament affects a child’s ability to go to sleep and stay asleep, as well as parents’ ability & success with common sleep strategies.

What to expect:

Temperament (intensity, sensitivity, alertness, perceptiveness, persistence, etc.) can result in higher levels of challenges with sleep and parenting, as well as lower levels of success with trying to tackle sleep issues. Having a child who is “more” means that parents are significantly more exhausted and discouraged.

The course will examine the qualities that can make these children exceptional, and at the same time, make sleep extremely difficult. The webinar will equip you with strategies to help both parents and children move forward in a way that takes everyone’s bandwidth into account.

Aim & learning outcomes

This course will equip you with strategies for identifying children who have this more sensitive, intense temperament and provide you with ways of working with parents to move forward with these unique challenges in mind.

By the end of this online session, you will be able to:

  1. Describe the temperament traits that can directly impact sleep behaviour.
  2. Identify the four ways that sleep is more difficult for children with a more intense/sensitive temperament.
  3. Discuss three key strategies specific to these parents that will help them finally have an impact on their child’s sleep behaviors.
